21st Annual Avery Trace Cycling Classic

In order to promote tourism in the Upper Cumberland region, an exciting trio of cycling events will be held the weekend of June 26, 2010. Avery Trace Sports is proud to conduct the 21st Annual Avery Trace Cycling Classic, which includes a road race and time trial events, in Jackson, Clay and Macon Counties on Saturday, June 26th. The Historic Avery Trace was the first road cut in Tennessee to join North Carolina to French Lick, known today as Nashville, Tennessee. The Upper Cumberland Wheelmen will conduct the Cookeville Criterium on Sunday, June 27th.

Participation in the Avery Trace Cycling Classic has grown from 77 in 1990 to 365 in 2009. Over 350 cyclist are expected to participate in this year's event. The road race courses will be 37 and 54 miles in length. A 9 mile time trial, individual riders racing against the clock, will be held on Saturday afternoon, 3 hours after the completion of the road race. The race will start in Jackson County and finish in Clay County. These courses provide a physical challenge for competitors.
